Jonathan Merritt is an LGBTQ activist who was outed for a gay encounter he had with another man at a Christian conference in 2012. Merritt is the son of former Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) president, James Merritt. Jonathan has been an open advocate for homosexual inclusion and has done the bidding for child sex-predators and perverts who insist on having access to children in public libraries.
Merritt is no stranger to controversy — he was the first to out Jen Hatmaker for her love of all things gay and he runs the streets of Christian whoredom with Beth Moore and others.
Recently, he published a tweet that refers to the gospel as a joke.
The tweet was a quote of the far-left 93-year-old Union Seminary graduate and PCUSA pastor, Frederick Buechner.

To be fair, I see the point that Merritt — and Buechner — are trying to make. But let’s be clear, it’s stupid. And further, I’m pretty sure that Merritt doesn’t even get the joke — the joke’s on him.
The gospel is no joke. Idolaters and blasphemers will see the gospel as a joke, but born-again Christians will see the gospel as the power unto salvation (1 Corinthians 1:18). One can only ask if Jesus thought it was a joke when he was nailed up to the cross.
Jonathan Merritt is a fool — his father should be ashamed. And those — like Beth Moore — who associate with him should be booted from the ranks of Christianity.
