A.W. Tozer famously said that “A church that can not worship MUST be entertained.” Much like Spurgeon’s famous quote that we often repeat on this blog, Tozer echoes the sentiments that a time will come when instead of pastors feeding sheep, clowns will entertain the goats.

Robby Gallaty, the pastor of Long Hollow Church, a megachurch in Hendersonville, TN, recently broke out the glowsticks during a sermon and began dancing to techno music.

Techno music, which was created for the purpose of and is associated with rave parties and heavy drug use, has now been incorporated into these circus-like megachurches.

People don’t want to go to church anymore to be fed the word of God, they would prefer to be entertained with goofy gimmicks and comedy. For these people, sound preaching is boring and must be supplemented with silliness, or else they won’t come.
