It’s absolutely outrageous that the Clackamas United Church of Christ in Milwaukie, Oregon has gained any sort of fame for displaying church signs with messages that go against everything Jesus taught. These signs, like “Our Transgender Siblings Have Heartbeats,” show a complete lack of respect for the Bible and the basic principles of the Christian faith.

We have a moral obligation to speak out against behavior that seeks to destroy the foundation of our faith. The church should be a sanctuary for worship, a place for believers to grow stronger in their faith, and a source of spiritual nourishment, not a venue for spreading ignorance and disrespect towards God. As believers, it is our duty to uphold the teachings of Jesus and to spread the gospel message of repentance and faith, as declared by Jesus and the apostles.

The Bible is clear on this point: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). We are called to share the good news of Jesus with the world, and to live our lives in accordance with his teachings. When we see behavior that goes against these teachings, it is our responsibility to speak out and to stand up for the truth. We must be bold in our faith and unafraid to confront those who seek to undermine it.

“I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism” (1 Timothy 5:21).

The Bible is clear on the fact that false prophets will arise in the last days. These are individuals who claim to speak on behalf of God, but who actually promote teachings that go against the Word of God and deceive others. Jesus himself warned of the danger of false prophets, saying, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:15).

False prophets often try to gain popularity and influence by catering to people’s desires and preaching a message that is more appealing to the world, rather than the truth of the gospel. They may use clever arguments and smooth words to deceive people into believing their lies. This is why it is so important for believers to be diligent in studying the Word of God and to be on guard against false teaching.

So, it’s not surprising at all that Adam Ericksen, the “pastor” of this church, claimed that the true meaning of Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus, salvation, and grace – the most important aspects of Christianity. Instead, he absurdly said that the holiday should be about blindly trusting what women say about their sex lives, using Matthew 1:18-25 as evidence for this ridiculous idea. Of course, he doesn’t actually believe this—this is simply one leftwing nutjob’s attempt at discrediting the God he hates.

It’s clear that this pastor’s views are not just flawed, but also highly disrespectful to the values and teachings of the Christian faith. We must reject this kind of outrageous and misguided thinking and proudly celebrate the real meaning of Christmas: the celebration of Jesus, salvation, and grace.

The Bible encourages us to test the spirits to see whether they are from God (1 John 4:1), and to be discerning in evaluating the teachings of others (Ephesians 5:6). We are also warned to be wary of those who try to lead us astray from the truth (2 Timothy 3:13). By staying grounded in the Word of God and being vigilant in our faith, we can protect ourselves from the influence of false prophets and stand firm in the truth.
