If the current pope of the Roman Catholic Church is anything, it’s consistent. He’s consistently inconsistent, that is. The pope has been inconsistent on homosexuality and the LGBTQ movement, recently telling homosexuals that they are “God’s children” and that God loves them just the way they are while at the same time, saying that LGBTQ isn’t compatible with the Roman Catholic Church.
Now, the pope has appointed a pro-choice atheist as a member of the Vatican’s pro-life organization, the Pontifical Academy for Life. That’s correct, you read that right. According to a Vatican press release, Mariana Mazzucato has been appointed as a member of the organization that touts itself as being “dedicated to promoting the Church’s consistent life ethic.”
So who is Mariana Mazzucato? She is an economist at University College London who, after the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Roe v. Wade, inserted herself into American politics to decry the decision. Well, she describes herself as a pope-loving atheist, for one thing:
