Shellie Martin was quite the controversial figure on Twitter as she unashamedly proclaimed biblical truth about issues facing the Church. Known for her uncompromising remarks, especially around issues such as feminism, she had the uncanny ability to make her point piercing and cutting right to the bone. She also ran a website geared toward women where she blogged about these issues.

Some of most recent tweets included such as the following:

Little did we know, as she was putting out her usual piercing tweets, that a few months earlier, she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Instead of cowering in fear, she doubled down on her trust in God’s word and continued to proclaim it. Then, suddenly, she passed away.

My name is Paul, most of you seeing this know me. But most don’t know what’s happened over the last few months. About 3 months ago our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. We thought that after surgery was over about 6 weeks ago we were in the clear and ready for recovery. But about 3 weeks ago it went downhill. We took her back to the hospital with trouble breathing. Weeks of tests resulted in finding stage 4 lung cancer and in her bones. It was too late at that point to do anything but make sure she was comfortable. It all happened so fast. I still don’t fully believe this is real.

We urge you to pray for the family as they deal with the loss of this faithful mother and wife. She will be dearly missed by them, but she will also be missed by the rest of us who knew her on social media. Based on what we know about her and her faith, we have no reservations that she heard those blessed words: “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
