Cross Church, an Arizona-based multi-campus megachurch, will be preaching the gospel and lifting high the name of the Resurrected Christ this coming Easter Sunday as we celebrate the Lord’s day. Just kidding, they won’t be. Instead, they’ll be making a mockery of Christ and holding hot-air balloon rides and giving out Easter baskets and having Easter egg hunts.
The church, located in Surprise Arizona, and is pastored by lead pastor, Jackie Allen is one of many of these carnal-minded churches that believe that Christianity is about making the gospel palatable and entertaining. Instead of believing that the gospel itself is powerful enough to call God’s elect to himself through Christ, instead, they believe that attracting a bunch of lost people to their church for balloon rides and entertainment is Evangelism.

This foolish charade gives new meaning to Spurgeon’s famous quote, “a time will come when instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns entertaining the goats!”
