Christian Rapper Associated With Lecrae Renounces Christianity

by | Jan 17, 2022 | Blog | 0 comments

Former Christian Rapper and a founding member of The Cross Movement Records, a record label that also produced Lecrae’s music prior to him moving to Reach Records, has renounced his faith.

The artist, Brady Goodwin, who goes by the stage name Phanatik, published his recantation on Facebook today said that he already sent his church a letter stating that he was not only leaving his local congregation but was leaving the Universal Church altogether. He said that he could “no longer amen the things he used to amen.”

Lecrae, himself, has been signaling over the last few years his disdain for the Bride of Christ as he has aligned himself with the secular hip-hop movement. One can only wonder how long it will be before Lecrae openly denies Christ and renounces his faith too.

Reformation Charlotte has urged believers to distance themselves from secularly-aligned Christian music movements. It isn’t just hip-hop–a couple of years ago, a prominent Hillsong musician also renounced his faith. Truth be told, they were never Christians, to begin with.

History has never suffered a shortage of theologians who chose comfort over confrontation, accommodation over courage. In the courts of corrupt kings and the halls of dead and decaying empires, there were always those willing to drape cowardice in the language of...
