If you’ve been following the sham “sex abuse” investigation of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) you’re probably aware by now that the Executive Committee–who has been accused by leftists including former ERLC head, Russell Moore of covering up sex abuse–caved to the demands of the leftists and waived attorney-client privilege.

The argument the left made is that the messengers of the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in June voted for a complete and transparent investigation and called for the Executive Committee to waive the privilege. Of course, the vast majority of the messengers at the annual meeting who voted for this were clueless as to the ramifications and impact it would have on the future of the denomination–and likely still are–but that impact is clearly beginning to be seen.

Just weeks prior to the annual meeting, Russell Moore resigned from his post at the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), which is an entity of the SBC, and leveled accusations in a letter that was leaked to the press against the Executive Committee that were both outlandish and unfounded. Among the accusations were that the Executive Committee had participated in a mass, systemic cover-up of sex crimes against women and children.

Of course, that is absurd and there is literally no evidence that this has happened. Nonetheless, he said it anyway.

It turns out, however, that Moore’s “leaked letter” was nothing more than a retaliatory political hit job against the Executive Committee who launched an investigation into the effectiveness of the ERLC with Moore leading it and its effects on the decline of revenue in the Southern Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program.

Now that all of that is out of the way, we are seeing the effects of Moore’s Chicago-style political tactics against the Southern Baptist Convention as the denomination now begins to be deconstructed and handed over to the leftists for full control. Amid waiving attorney-client privilege, the legal firm that has represented the Southern Baptist Convention for 56 years has now abruptly resigned, citing the inability to effectively serve the denomination without attorney-client privilege.

You can read the entire resignation letter at the end of this article. However, it should be noted that without attorney-client privilege, it will be difficult, if not downright impossible, to find legal counsel. Without legal counsel, the denomination cannot be insured. And without insurance, the denomination is now susceptible to losing all of its money–which should be spent on missions and spiritual endeavors–to the attorneys of leftist Plaintiffs making baseless accusations against the denomination.

The end result of this game is the complete and total destruction of the Southern Baptist Convention. And while, admittedly, one may revel in the notion that the denomination could very well be coming to an end, it should also be noted that this is not the way it should have happened. What should have happened is that faithful Southern Baptists and leaders either speak out against the influx of leftism or get out of the denomination. Instead, as God says in Revelation 18:4, many have stayed to be partakers of her sins and are now meeting the wrath of God.

Below is the resignation letter from Guenther, Jordan & Price, the legal firm that has represented the Southern Baptist Convention for over five decades.
