Hillsong is from Hell, Be Glad It’s Falling Apart

You’re probably aware by now that Hillsong Church, the worldwide megachurch corporation headquartered in Sydney, Australia, is embroiled in yet another scandal. Hillsong has been plagued by scandal after scandal since its inception.

Last year, Hillsong NYC hit one of the most memorable scandals of its history–and there have been many–after its lead pastor, Carl Lentz admitted to having a sexual affair with a Muslim woman while leading the church. Lentz was subsequently fired from his role which sparked a string of structural changes within the organization, including the CEO, Brian Houston, who stepped down as top leader after admitted he dropped the ball on dealing with NYC’s scandals.

And besides just sex scandals, they’re plagued with financial scandals, theft scandals, and, worst scandals of all, cult-like activity and false gospels. And now, the most recent scandal–which has actually been ongoing for years–is the alleged child abuse coverup of Hillsong’s Founder, Frank Houston, by his son and current CEO, Brian Houston.

But it isn’t just the sex scandal after sex scandal that makes Hillsong a wicked and demonic organization. The church is theologically inept at best and downright heretical at times. Hillsong has been on the verge of apostatizing on a biblical view of human sexuality for a number of years. Hillsong released a statement in 2019 stating that the church is ” an inclusive Christian church that loves, values and welcomes all people, regardless of their background, ethnicity, beliefs, values, or personal identity,” and last year, prior to his firing due to his own sex scandal, Hillsong NYC pastor told the press that he’s open to affirming homosexuality and abortion.

The Hillsong cult attracts people through entertainment and keeps them there by their addiction. They have it down to an exact science. They know what sells and they know what keeps customers. Whether it be their watered-down music, their nuanced affirmation of homosexuals, that they hold Roman Catholic masses, that they produce sleazy renditions of Silent Night during Christmas or pose a nearly naked man on stage at a women’s conference, that they defend abortion and complain about the death penalty, or that celebrities love them because they “don’t teach that book with Moses and stuff,” one thing is for sure, they know what the world — a world in rebellion to God — likes.

Hillsong has been referred to by this publication as a “gateway drug to apostasy” that churches are dealing to their members. By far, the greatest evil in the church is the works of darkness that creep in unaware to dilute the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, while building a false church that serves the interest of man.

Hillsong has fed much to the evangelical church in the way of wickedness through its many programs, especially its music production program. Hillsong’s music is played in nearly every evangelical church in the world, as well as many Roman Catholic churches. The purchase of every piece of “worshipful art” from them goes to support their works and pays homage to their apostasy.

As we’ve seen over the years–time and time again–Hillsong church is a breeding ground for false converts who eventually abandon their faith altogether. Why that is the case is not difficult to grasp for those who understand the Scriptures. There is no real commitment to biblical truth at Hillsong–it is largely a man-centered social-ideological cult with no actual convictions derived from Scripture. Even Al Mohler criticized the movement as having no theological convictions, stating that it was a “prosperity movement for millennials” that “minimizes the actual content of the gospel.”

Today, Hillsong is falling apart before our eyes. Several pastors and leaders have either resigned or been removed due to multiple sex scandals and now the CEO of the organization is facing criminal prosecution. Nothing could be worse for an organization that claims to be representative of Christ–it is definitely not. Yet, for the true and believing Church of Jesus Christ, we should be thankful that God is tearing down this massive obstruction to the faith, and hopefully, the entire harlot kingdom that is Hillsong will crumble and fade from our memories.

You can bet, though, that Satan will devise another false church to breed more false converts and lead more people astray. Never let your guard down.
