Heresy: Statism

Statism is the belief that the state is the highest authority over and above any other religion, ideology, or philosophy.

Statism is essentially state-sponsored secularism whereby the governmental system may, in some cases, tolerate other religions such as Christianity, but will not allow other religions to influence the policies or practices of the government in any way. This form of government often places restrictions on worship, religious proselytism, and public practice often driving many other religions–especially Christianity–underground.

Statism has been primarily popular in Communist nations throughout history, including Russia/Soviet Union, China, North Korea, and Cuba. However, statism is growing rapidly in Western nations including the United States and several nations in Europe.

“Church” Holds Sex Driven Halloween-Themed Drag Bingo

“I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you.” (Proverbs 1:26) When God laughs, it is never lighthearted. His laughter is the echo of justice in a world that has mocked Him too long. Somewhere this past weekend, a drag clown twirls beneath...

The SBC’s System is Broken, And It Can’t Be Fixed

The system is broken, and it can’t be fixed. I don’t say that lightly. I say it after years of watching Southern Baptists pretend the house is sturdy while the joists groan, the roof leaks, and the foundation sinks under our feet. The SBC has a Credentials Committee...

The Church and the Welfare State

In the dingy gray mornings of the old Soviet Union, the peasants learned a terrible national dogma. They queued for hours outside concrete shops that smelled of dust and vinegar, ration cards in hand, waiting for the chance to buy a loaf of bread or a few bruised...

Steven Furtick and the Carnival Church

I watched the clip—again and again—Steven Furtick laughing, giving some guy a piggyback ride in what he calls a church. The people around him cheering, clapping, filming on their phones like the presence of God is some novelty sideshow act. Honestly, this stuff just...

Survey Shows the Church Can’t Even Define Family Anymore

Apparently, we now live in a world where less than half of “regular churchgoers” can coherently define the word family. Family Research Council’s (FRC) latest 2025 survey reveals that 68 % will say, “Marriage is between one man and one woman”—yet only 46 % think...

The Word of God is the Sword of Politics Too

They say politics doesn’t belong in the pulpit—that the Church must stay “above” the fray, aloof from the rough-and-tumble of the public square. But what they really mean is that the Bible is too sharp to touch their idols. It cuts too close. It exposes too much. The...
