Charlatan Jim Bakker has been under fire for promoting his “silver solution” as a coronavirus cure on his television show. Bakker is a fraud who has spent his entire life defrauding people in the name of Christ. It’s no wonder groups like Right Wing Watch continue to look poorly upon Christianity as these charismatic frauds continue to lie, cheat, and steal from people in order to make a buck. Charismatic Christianity is counterfeit Christianity and Jim Bakker is one of the worst of these charlatans.

Bakker is now telling his viewers that the credit card companies he uses to process donations are refusing to release funds to him and instead, they’re “putting it in their own accounts,” as he pleads with viewers to send him checks, instead.

Further, Bakker is now insisting that he never promoted his fake silver solution as a coronavirus cure and that people are “lying about him.”

While we as Christians can — and should — acknowledge that Jim Bakker is a fraudulent liar, charlatan, and false teacher of the highest order who should be silenced (Titus 1:11 says their mouths must be stopped), we probably shouldn’t be glad that it is happening this way. Of course, their mouths must be silenced by the life-giving power of the gospel — not by some secular CEO’s decree that he doesn’t like a particular religious movement. If we applaud this in this way, we’re only opening the doors for all religious ministries to eventually be silenced if we don’t meet the expectations of corporate giants who control our money.
