Following in the footsteps of a number of popular American “Christian” icons who’ve apostatized in one way or another — namely Joshua Harris, the megachurch pastor who left his wife to march in gay pride parades along with Marty Sampson, the Hillsong worship leader who announced that he’s “no longer one of us” — popular Rwandan gospel singer, Albert Nabonibo, has come out gay.

Billboard reports,

Nabonibo shocked many Rwandans in August when he revealed in an interview with a Christian YouTube channel that he is gay in a country where such a public assertion of homosexuality is unheard of. Although the central African nation has been relatively free of the anti-gay rhetoric commonly heard in some other parts of sub-Saharan Africa, homosexuality is still widely despised, and LGBT people keep a low profile.

Of course, this is only a shock if your head is in the sand or stuck under a rock somewhere. Christianity and fame don’t mix well — and when faced with the decision between the popular world culture and Jesus, most are going to choose the world.

The movement to denounce Jesus in favor of embracing the homosexual lifestyle in one way or another is nothing new. It’s happened since the beginning of creation — in fact, homosexuality is the one sin that was so grievous that it caused God to wipe two cities off the face of the Earth. Yet, this doesn’t stop those who profess Christianity from embracing the lifestyle.

Jesus asked the rhetorical question, “what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?” For many, like Sampson, Harris, and now Nabonibo, temporary affirmation. But as it is with all sin, unless they repent, they will lose their soul.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

Luke 13:3-5
