Leading Charismatic Apologist to Investigate Illicit Sex Allegations Against Todd Bentley

Over the last few weeks, Reformation Charlotte reported on the sex abuse allegations by false prophet and apostle, Todd Bentley. Bentley was previously removed from ministry a decade ago for the exact same conduct but subsequently restored by another false prophet, Rick Joyner. In his most recent sexual escapade, which he and his mentor, Rick Joyner, admitted to, the allegations included soliciting sex from a male prostitute.

The world’s leading apologist for charismaticism — a modern-day form of the Montanist heresy condemned by the early Church — announced on his Facebook page that he has been tasked with investigating Todd Bentley.

Last month, a long list of serious charges against evangelist Todd Bentley was posted online, leading to a firestorm of controversy and confusion. In turn, this has unleashed a wave of gossip, slander, and innuendo against others in the family of God. Along with this, many are asking the question: Is there any accountability in the Church?

In response to this, I have been tasked by a number of senior leaders in the Body to assemble a group of trusted and respected men of God who will review the charges against Todd and make a determination, in accordance with 1 Corinthians 6.

What’s interesting is that Todd Bentley has been blaspheming God for years, making outrageous claims from healing numerous deaf people in one night to, on multiple occasions, raising people from the dead. Year after year, day after day, Bentley has made unsubstantiated claims of healings and miracles and was at one point caught outright lying when a defender of the faith contacted the hospital where Bentley claimed he raised someone from the dead. Where was the call for an investigation then?

The bottom line is this: Todd Bentley is a false prophet, charismaticism is a false doctrine, and those who defend it, like Michael Brown, are willing to defend it at nearly any cost until it blows up in their face. In fact, even one of Brown’s colleagues and fellow charismatics admitted recently that charismatics are preoccupied with manufactured fake miracles rather than holiness and sound doctrine.

So what are Michael Brown and his “task force” going to find in this investigation? Well, the reality is that it’s just par for the course for a man like Bentley. Likely, they will find him guilty of sexual misconduct and recommend him to be removed from ministry. But not because of his repeated blasphemy against God and lack of holiness, but because he makes charismatics look bad. While there are false converts in every sector and denomination of Christianity, once they’re removed from ministry, they almost always come back as charismatics. It’s a cesspool of false doctrine, false signs and wonders, and unholiness. Almost every heresy that has ever entered the church has entered through the conduit of continuationism.
