John Piper has taken a lot of criticism over the years for things he’s said that sound off but could be somehow legitimized to mean something other than what it sounded like he meant when he said it. But in this audio from a conference Piper spoke at in 2004, In a recently surfaced video, however, Piper clearly says that God “broke the second commandment” which makes it legitimate for us to make graven images of Jesus, so long as we don’t do so of God the Father.

While many critics have been up-in-arms over Steven Furtick saying that Jesus broke the law a few years back, these same critics have largely ignored this exact same rhetoric from Piper which recently surfaced.
