Recently, the popular Evangelist and leader of Living Waters Ministries, Ray Comfort, took a lot of heat after releasing a video that appeared to condemn street preachers calling them “people with bullhorns yelling at people.”

Ray Comfort popularized the method of evangelism that features the “way of the master” — that is, going through the Ten Commandments and asking someone how they believe they measure up to them, then giving them the gospel. Comfort is also known for using certain gimmicks as giving away fake (and real) dollar bills with gospel tracts on them and attracting crowds using “Heaven Tests.” While these practices can be effective at gathering a crowd, many street preachers took issue with his statements saying that it sounded like Comfort was saying that those who do not use these methods and instead use amplification to yell at people were doing it wrong.

Shortly after, Living waters released a statement that he did not mean to condemn these methods and, at times, uses amplification himself. He has now released a video apologizing for what he says is an “unintentional confusion.”
