First, we legalize weed. Then we tax it. That’s how the government operates. It isn’t about the rule of law or the protection of its citizens — it’s about revenue.

Now, a town in Illinois a few miles north of Chicago will be paying slave reparations to its black citizens by taxing marijuana. Talk about dirty money. Now, I’m not defending the use of marijuana, however, historically, marijuana sales — that is, street sales — have put more blacks in prison in the Chicago area than a host of other crimes combined. But now that the government has their own dirty hands in the game, instead of criminalizing marijuana sales, they capitalize on it.

Telegraph reports,

Recreational use of the drug will become legal in the state from January and officials in Evanston, which is 12 miles north of Chicago, have voted to approve a 3 per cent tax on the sales to fund a local reparations program.

The tax is expected to generate between $500,000 and $750,000 annually for the reparations fund, which will be capped at $10 million over the next ten years.

The city’s lawmakers will meet next week to determine exactly how the fund will be distributed, but one idea being proposed is for the money to go towards things like skills training or financial assistance for down payments on a home in the area.

According to the report, the reparations fund will be available to all blacks — whether or not they are descendants of slaves — so long as their melanin count is high enough and they live within the city limits.
