Last December, according to a report at Ministry Watch, “Bethel members Tenessa Audette, 45, a first-time candidate, and Jack Munns, 64, who first ran two years ago, will now join Bethel elder Julie Winter on the 5-member council” in Redding, California, home of Bethel Church.
Bethel Church in Redding, California, is pastored and co-pastored by Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton, respectively, who believe themselves to be prophets and Apostles of God. Bethel is well-known for its debunked “manifestations” of the Holy Spirit, including its infamous spectacle known as “glory clouds.” The “glory cloud” spectacle has been thoroughly debunked and its various other acts of blasphemy, like grave sucking, have been shown to be contra-biblical and heterodox.
As we’ve explained before, Bethel Redding is essentially a cult that revolves around the visions of its two main “Apostles” while minimizing the truth of Scripture. Its livelihood depends on the fantastic tales relayed by its pastors as “revelations” from God coupled with the “experience” of worship through its deep emotionally-stimulating music.
Bethel Church’s central message is essentially to “make love to Jesus” by creating what they deem a “heaven on earth” experience in their worship services. But they don’t limit their aberrant theology to just inside the walls of their church. According to Bethel’s website, they believe that “this is the hour for the Church to arise and shine” and “now is the time—time to arise and build for the purposes of our God as people united who are equipped and empowered to impact communities, cities, and nations for Him, bringing His manifest presence into the darkest corners of the earth.”
But besides holding the keys to the entire city of Redding, CA, they also hold the keys to the city’s convention center. In 2011, a non-profit group was formed by the leadership of Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM) called Advance Redding. The non-profit group was formed to oversee the Redding Civic Center which claims it is not directly tied to Bethel. Yet, who sits on the board as the Board president? Kris Vallotton, the second in command pastor of Bethel Church right behind Bill Johnson.
Well, it turns out that this civic center, which is overseen by Bethel pastor, Kris Vallotton, along with other Bethel Church leaders, is hosting a Christmas event on December 10th featuring drag queens. The event, A Drag Queen Christmas, is advertised as for mature audiences 18 and up only. So we can only imagine what’s going to take place here.
