DC Comics has once again sparked controversy with its latest foray into woke social ideology. Last year, the company made headlines with its decision to portray Superman as bisexual in a new comic featuring Jonathan Kent. In this series, Kent is shown to have a same-sex relationship with a character named Jay Nakamura. The decision was met with shock and outrage, with many accusing DC Comics of catering to the so-called “woke crowd” and pushing a left-leaning agenda.
Now, the company has released what is being referred to as the most bizarre chapter in the saga between Batman and the Joker. In this edition of the Joker comic, the character becomes a trans-mutant pregnant man after a spell by the wizard Zatanna backfires. The Joker gives birth to a mutant version of itself, and the two fall in love. This development has caused backlash from conservatives, who believe that DC Comics is pushing an LGBTQ+ agenda.
The announcement of a new Joker movie featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga only adds fuel to the fire. It seems that DC Comics is more interested in creating controversial and divisive content rather than quality entertainment. This is especially disappointing given the character’s previous updates to address current social issues such as refugee deportation, school shootings, and climate change.
It seems pretty clear that DC Comics is more concerned with pandering to leftist groups and carrying out their particular agenda to indoctrinate children with queer theory and other aberrant anti-Christian ideologies than it is with creating compelling stories and characters. This shift towards woke ideology is disappointing and frustrating, but not surprising from anyone who is paying attention to the culture shift in America and the rest of the world.
