Disclaimer: This should not be construed as a blanket endorsement of Kanye West nor does this represent that we are unquestioningly affirmative of his conversion to Christianity as genuine. There is much that we’ve pointed out in Kanye’s newfound “walk with Christ” that suggests he may not be quite as biblically sound as some believe him to be. Admittedly, a man of his notoriety and fortune makes it difficult for him to escape the limelight and sit under good solid teaching at a local, bible-believing church. However, we leave his conversion up to God while we recognize that there does appear to be some change in his life, even if small.
Namely, that change in his life has been in some of his beliefs. West has spent the majority of his life as a foul-mouthed rapper whose life revolves around sex, fame, and fortune. Yet, in recent years, he’s become very outspoken on several key issues that conflict with what the typical non-Christian would believe. One of those issues is abortion.
West has taken a decidedly pro-life stance against abortion. In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, West points out that abortion is the number one cause of death among black babies and that there are more black babies in New York City being aborted than are being born.
West goes further to state that he doesn’t care what the reaction of other people is, he says he has an obligation to God as his greatest audience. And while that might not be the best theological way to express that, it does demonstrate that his pro-life position is much, much stronger than even that of so-called “conservative” Southern Baptist leaders who are opposing laws in various states that would end abortion because they don’t contain enough “exceptions” to abortion bans.
