John Hagee, a controversial false teacher that Reformation Charlotte has written about previously, and pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX, is no stranger to politics in the pulpit. While politics is important–and we believe that political ideology should certainly be informed by our Christian worldview–Hagee has a tendency to take political posturing too far.

While it is not possible to be a Christian and a liberal Democrat, it is possible to be politically conservative but remain lost. This is where John Hagee appears to be. While having many correct political views, Hagee should not be counted among the brethren because of his false, unbiblical theological teachings.

One example of this is a recent outburst in his church during a third-party event. During the event–which Cornerstone Church gladly gave its tacit endorsement of by renting the facilities to them–the crowd broke out in loud, obtrusive chants of “Let’s Go Brandon”–a cleaner version of the anti-Joe Biden chants heard in sports stadiums around the world.

And while some of us may share in the sentiments of this chant–some may oppose saying it as a matter of conscience–I think we can all agree that the pulpit and the pews are neither the time nor the place for this. The pulpit is for the preaching and teaching of God’s Word–something Hagee has no concept of–and for the worship of God and the edification of the saints.
