Christian rap has become a theological system of its own for the most part. With the exception of a few conservatives who actually believe the Bible to be the authoritative Word of God, most Christian rappers in the mainstream have exchanged the gospel of Jesus for a gospel of social justice.
This is evident with Lecrae, who at one time actually held to seemingly sincere Biblical beliefs and decent theology, but has now completely abandoned Christianity for the secular self-glorifying hip-hop movement. Lecrae now runs the streets with foul-mouthed “gangsta rappers” and scantily-clad women identifying himself with black culture rather than with Christ.
And Derek Minor, a “Christian” rapper and friend of Lecrae, responded to Derek Chauvin’s conviction with a B̶i̶b̶l̶e̶ ̶v̶e̶r̶s̶e̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶i̶c̶e̶ foul language that is associated with the degradation of women, “don’t drop the soap, hoe.”
Whatever your belief is regarding the conviction of Derek Chauvin, all Christians should agree that this kind of rhetoric is ungodly. Derek Minor is a supporter of Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission head, Russell Moore, who was under investigation last year for his racially divisive antics in the denomination.
