Feminism, Rebellion, Pastors Who Capitulate, and the Judgment of God

by | Aug 25, 2025 | News, Opinion, Religion

Here in 2025, feminism has reached its highest peak in history, yet it still amazes me that something as simple and as clear as God’s created order can be so furiously despised by even the Church. The Bible is not vague about this and does not leave room for committees or seminary panels to reinterpret it. It is very clear:

“I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.” (1 Timothy 2:12).

That’s not Paul’s cultural hang-up. That’s God’s Word. And yet, churches across this nation are tripping over themselves to platform women in pulpits and slapping the title “pastor,” “minister,” or “shepherd” on them as though rebellion wrapped in religious language is somehow less offensive to God.

Feminism may be at the root of a lot of our world’s problems. But don’t get me wrong—I’m not placing the blame for our collapse solely on women. God held Adam responsible for Eve’s rebellion, and He still does. Romans 5 makes it clear that sin entered the world through Adam, not Eve (Romans 5:12–21).

God created Adam first, then Eve as his helper (Gen. 2:18) and the order wasn’t arbitrary—it was covenantal. Adam was the head, the one accountable. And Adam failed. He stood by silently as the serpent whispered, and when Eve fell, Adam fell with her. And all of us fell in him.

However, Eve’s rebellion was the beginning of feminism. Not in name, but in essence. The rejection of God’s created order. The usurpation of authority. The redefinition of roles. Feminism didn’t start in the 20th century—it started in Eden. And every time it resurfaces in history, whether in the suffrage movements, the sexual revolutions, or the #MeToo campaigns, it brings the same fruit. Judgment.

Today, in the Church, the office of pastor has been overtly feminized, even by those who claim to hold to complementarian views. But it’s worse than that. It’s not just women barging into pulpits where they don’t belong. It’s men apologizing for being men. It’s pastors who blush at words like “authority” and “headship.” It’s evangelicals redefining “complementarian” until it means nothing more than “we’re open to anything as long as it sounds nice.”

It’s the Matt Chandlers, the JD Greears, the Rick Warrens, and the rest of the crowd who spent years hedging, nuancing, “reevaluating,” and in the process neutering the plain teaching of Scripture.

The irony of all of this is that feminism doesn’t liberate women. Rather, it enslaves men. “Misogyny” is condemned as obscene, but misandry is paraded as virtuous. The feminist project, like all Marxist ideas, insists that women are forever under the tyrannical thumb of men. But in truth, it has placed men under the tyranny of women and their grievances. It is not a movement of freedom, but of rebellion. And rebellion against God always breeds slavery.

This isn’t just theoretical—it’s the historical judgment of God. Look at Ahab. Instead of ruling in justice, he sulked on his bed when Naboth refused to sell his vineyard. Jezebel seized control, orchestrated Naboth’s murder, and handed the land to Ahab. God’s response was brutal. Dogs would lick up Ahab’s blood (1 Kings 21:19). Jezebel would be eaten by dogs (1 Kings 21:23). His entire male line would be cut off (1 Kings 21:21–22).

Ahab’s weakness—letting Jezebel act in his place—didn’t just cost him dignity. It cost him his dynasty and his life. I’m not saying that’s literally what’s going to happen today, but clearly, nothing is off the table when it comes to how God reacts to rebellion. When men abdicate and women usurp, God does not shrug. He judges.

Yet, stoked by #MeToo, feminism found a way to baptize itself in evangelical waters. Pastors preach sermons about “listening to women’s voices,” as though the Spirit who inspired the Word of God needed cultural supplements to make Him whole. Southern Baptists host panel discussions on “rethinking leadership,” where masculinity has become the new sin to be repented of, while women preach to men with Bibles open to passages they had already explained away.

But God doesn’t explain it away. He never has. His Word is clear, His order is decreed and immutable. Men lead, women help. Men preach, women disciple in the contexts He ordained. Men bear the weight of headship, and women glorify that order by embracing their role in it. To exchange this order for anything else is not progress—it is rebellion. And God never leaves rebellion unpunished.

The prophet Isaiah said this:

“My people—infants are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your guides mislead you and they have swallowed up the course of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12).

Does that sound like a blessing or does it sound like judgment? When men abdicate, when women rebel, when leaders accommodate, the curse of God follows close behind.

So no, I don’t place all the blame on women. Adam bears responsibility. Ahab bore responsibility. Pastors today who cave to culture will be held to account. Men who fear the word “patriarchy” more than they fear God will answer for their spinelessness.

But let’s not pretend feminism is neutral. It is one of the greatest insurgencies against the created order, and by extension, against the Creator Himself. And if history—and Scripture—teach us anything, it’s that God will not allow that rebellion to prosper forever.

He will bring it to nothing, even if He must bring a nation to ruin to do it. So the Church had better take note. Judgment begins in the house of God (1 Peter 4:17).
