State of the Union Address Proves the Left Have Been Given Over by God to a Debased Mind

If there was ever a night that confirmed the Democrat Party and its allies have been handed over to a debased mind, last night’s State of the Union Address was it. The theater of malevolence was in full swing, an outright spectacle of loathing and rebellion against anything remotely good, true, or even recognizably human.

As Trump, even to my surprise, laid out an unapologetically pro-American vision—a vision of prosperity, security, and national renewal—Democrats sat like stone idols, frozen in defiant silence, their expressions a grim mosaic of seething resentment.

During the address, Trump presented 13-year-old D.J. Daniel, a child battling brain cancer. His only wish is to become an honorary officer in 100 law enforcement agencies before he dies. Trump honored him, made him an honorary Secret Service agent—an unambiguously touching moment, and a rare opportunity for national unity.

And yet, not one Democrat could be bothered to rise, to acknowledge the courage of a sick child, to even feign basic human decency. Their refusal to clap for a cancer-stricken boy tells you everything you need to know. This isn’t politics, this is something deeper, something darker. They loathe anything that even smells like decency.

They are, in every sense, haters of God.

It didn’t stop there. When Trump spoke of restoring law and order—an idea so fundamental that any sane society would consider it non-negotiable—the Left remained seated. Republicans stood in roaring applause, yet across the aisle, an unbroken sea of dour, dead-eyed faces refused to acknowledge even the most basic functions of civilization.

When he vowed to balance the federal budget—something any reasonable person would recognize as an act of fiscal responsibility—the Democrats scoffed. In fact, the only thing that stirred these cockroaches to life was the mention of funneling more taxpayer money to Ukraine. If this doesn’t tell you who they are and what they value, nothing will.

But let’s not pretend the rot is confined to the openly leftist. No, this disease has spread to those who masquerade as “principled conservatives” but, in reality, serve as the Left’s fifth column. Bill Kristol, Russell Moore, David French—men who once held positions of influence within conservatism and evangelicalism, now reduced to trembling sycophants, licking the boots of their leftist overlords.

Kristol, who spent years pretending to be a voice of conservative wisdom, now waves the transgender flag and warns of the ‘danger’ Trump supposedly poses to ‘marginalized communities.’

And of course, you have those pretending to be Evangelical Christians while spending every waking moment of their life undermining the Christian worldview. Russell Moore, a man who holds high office in some of Evangelicalisms oldest institutions, now spends his days moralizing from the pages of The Atlantic, comforting the enemies of the church while sneering at its defenders.

Mike Cosper, who was rightly labeled “malakoi”—a term with a little too much plausible deniability behind it—by Tom Ascol, is little more than an ecclesiastical gossip columnist, a spiritual ambulance chaser who recently made himself famous by calling Ron DeSantis a coward.

Phil Vischer, Francis Collins, David French—men who call themselves “Christians”—these men are not neutral. They are not principled. They are not “holding the line.” They are the enemy.

This is what it means to be given over to a debased mind. When Paul wrote in Romans 1 that God ‘gave them up’ to their corruption, he was describing a terrifying reality, that when men persist in their rebellion against God, He removes His restraint and lets them spiral into madness.

That is exactly what we saw last night. It wasn’t just political opposition, it was a theological display. It was a parade of the spiritually abandoned.

To clarify, I am not saying that voting Republican or even being “conservative” is synonymous with being born again. Plenty of conservatives are lost, just as there are those in leftist circles who may someday yet repent and turn to Christ. But what we are saying—what cannot be ignored—is that one side of this political divide has been unmistakably marked by the judgment of God.

One side cheers for the mutilation of children and sits in angry silence at the celebration of life.

One side worships chaos and rejects order.

One side shouts their “amens” when the wicked prosper but seethes with rage when righteousness is proclaimed.

This is not normal political disagreement. This is judgment.

And what do we say of those who still pretend this isn’t happening? Of those who, like Kristol, Moore, and Cosper, insist that the true danger lies not with the Left but with those who stand against it? They are clowns but they are not stupid. They are complicit.

They are the enablers of destruction, the ones who give cover to the very forces that seek to dismantle everything good. They are the theological equivalent of hostages who develop a fondness for their captors, scolding those who fight back while pleading for more chains.

The events of last night’s address should serve as a flashing red warning light for anyone still straddling the fence. This is not a time for neutrality. You are either standing with those who celebrate life, order, and truth, or you are aligning yourself with those who despise them. You are either with those who applaud courage or those who sneer at it. There is no middle ground anymore.

God has given them over. The only question left is whether we will recognize it in time.
