In a recent revelation that showcases the ideological shift within the Roman Catholic Church, a Lexington, KY Catholic priest, Stan JR Zerkowski of St. Paul Catholic Church, came forward with a handwritten note he claims to have received directly from Pope Francis. This note signifies not only a profound personal acknowledgment but also stands as a testament to the broader changes occurring within the church’s approach to aberrant and unorthodox sexuality and sexual sin.
Stan JR Zerkowski, deeply involved in promoting homosexuality in the Roman Catholic Church, both locally and nationally, says he had sent a “heartfelt letter” to Pope Francis just days before. In his letter, Zerkowski detailed his work with “Fortunate Families, LGBTQ Ministry at St. Paul and the Diocesan LGBTQ Outreach Commission.” He spoke of his “tireless efforts” of “building intentional LGBTQ+ ministries and promoting dialogue” and expressed his gratitude towards the Pope for “opening the door to LGBTQ+ Ministry.”
“I told him that his openness has saved lives,” Zerkowski said in praise of the pope’s supposed new openness to sexual deviance. But it was the Pope’s response, he says, that took everyone by “surprise.” The handwritten note, dated 13 October 2023, reads:
“Dear brother, thank you very much for your email. Thank you for your ministry. I pray for you, please continue to do so for me. May the Lord bless you and the Madonna watch over you.”

While the note doesn’t mention the LGBTQ “ministry” explicitly, Zerkowski interprets it as an affirmation of his work. He stated in a Facebook post, “I understand fully that this note is NOT about me. This note is about OUR ministry. It is about YOU. It is an affirmation from the pope about LGBTQ ministry.”
This correspondence between a local priest and the Roman pope is indicative of a broader trend observed not only in the Catholic Church but also within the broader Evangelical Church. These religious institutions, for quite some time, have been shifting towards a more accommodating stance on matters related to sexuality while abandoning biblical teachings on the matter.
This correspondence may seem like it offers “hope” to those pushing for more progressive changes within the church, but in reality, it signifies death and destruction. One needs to look no further than Sodom and Gomorrah to see the trajectory the church and the world are headed.
