Anglican Professor at Union Seminary Says “Queerness is Central to Christian Theology”

It’s increasingly evident that we are living in times where apostasy is not just knocking at the door of the Church but has made its way to the pulpit. Patrick Cheng, a visiting Anglican Studies professor at Union Theological Seminary, is offering a course on Queer Theology. Of course, Union Seminary has been apostate for decades, but the school’s influence on mainstream Christianity, even Evangelicalism, cannot be understated. In fact, Russell Moore, a former leader of the Southern Baptist Convention, has himself been highly influenced by this school and has lent them credence not only among the secular world, but mainstream Evangelicalism.

Mr. Cheng posits not only that being LGBTQ and religious aren’t mutually exclusive—which in itself is a dubious assertion—but goes so far as to claim that queerness is at the core of Christian theology. This doesn’t just deviate from traditional Christian teachings; it eviscerates them.

The idea of queerness being central to Christian theology is not just a radical departure from Biblical teachings but a gross distortion that has led to the damnation of many souls while defacing the true nature of the Church. It dilutes the uncompromising message of Scripture and clouds the vision of who Christ truly is—the Holy, Righteous, Lord of Lords, and King of Kings. To represent it otherwise is to offer a counterfeit model of something sacred and in doing so, diminish the impact and authority of the body of Christ.

One of the most troubling aspects of Cheng’s Queer Theology course is its purported focus on “practical social justice.” In essence, students of this course are being trained to propagate a socio-theological perspective that is profoundly unbiblical. That these ideas are becoming mainstream shows how far we’ve veered as a society from our Creator. The growing acceptance of such ideologies within Christian institutions is alarming. It reflects not just a shift in cultural attitudes but a weakening of doctrinal integrity.

Hatred for Christianity is Fueled From Within

There was a time when mocking God was a dangerous business. There was a time when scorning His people carried a cost. And there was a time when conservative Christians in America weren’t the preferred punching bags of Hollywood’s sneering elites. But that time is long...
