Two teachers at a Southern Baptist Church-affiliated Christian school are completely baffled at why they were fired for attending a drag show featuring sex perverts and celebrating sexual immorality. Caught like a dear in headlights, they had absolutely no clue at all.
I’m not joking, these two women took to a local news outlet to express their complete surprise when they received a phone call from First Baptist Academy, a Christian school operated by Rollingbrook Fellowship, a Southern Baptist Church according to the SBC Church directory. According to reports, the two were fired after leadership pointed to the following clause in the school’s code of conduct for teachers and staff:
“I will act in a godly and moral fashion at work, on Facebook, and in my community.”
Kristi Maris, one of the teachers who were fired, told KSAT that she had agreed to the clause, but “didn’t realize” she was breaking it by sulking in grossly immoral sexualized adult entertainment. “They’re entertainers,” Maris said. “No, I would have never thought in a million years that this would have happened.”
What’s baffling is how anyone could be so dull as to actually believe that this behavior is benign. What Maris and her friend ought to do is stop calling herself a Christian, and then remove the name of Christ from her lips altogether. This way, judgment day won’t be quite as hard on her. Better yet, she should repent and plead with God for forgiveness and mercy. Sadly, it seems as though she openly worships the creature rather than the Creator.
“Say that was my son, I would love him. It wouldn’t matter to me as long as he’s happy. I want everybody else to do that too,” Maris said. Thankfully, this school did the right thing by giving these teachers over.
