It is a damning indictment of our society when the genuine concerns of a young girl are dismissed and disregarded by the very institutions that are supposed to protect her. The fact that it is even legal for a grown man to masquerade as a woman and enter private spaces reserved for women—and that this twisted, delusional notion is given even the slightest semblance of credibility—is nothing short of a mockery of our “civilized” society.

Recently, a 66-year-old man identifying himself as Christynne Wood was spotted in the women’s locker room of a San Diego area YMCA, where he was observed by Rebecca Philipps, a 17-year-old female, who was forced to hide behind a shower curtain in fear for her safety.

“As I was showering after my workout, I saw a naked man in the women’s locker room,” Philipps testified before city council. “I was terrified and had to hide behind the flimsy curtain until he left.”

It is a sad state of affairs when the legitimate fears of a teenager are dismissed and dismissed in favor of catering to the whims of a mentally ill individual who can’t even determine which locker room they belong in, or what kind of swimwear is appropriate for the pool.

History has never suffered a shortage of theologians who chose comfort over confrontation, accommodation over courage. In the courts of corrupt kings and the halls of dead and decaying empires, there were always those willing to drape cowardice in the language of...
