In one of the most absurd arguments I’ve ever heard in my life, the Cross Politic podcast which now includes former Founders Ministry co-host, Jared Longshore, blamed transgenderism on Baptist theology.
The argument was essentially that because Baptists allow believers to “choose their identity” by choosing when they’ll be baptized, this somehow equates to transgender people choosing their own identity.
“It’s a definition that you’ve heard of Baptism all your life,” the person in the clip said, “it’s an outward sign of an inward truth. It’s a way that I stand up and say to the world ‘I’m a Christian now.’ That is a new modernist understanding of selfhood…and the world said hey, I can run with that definition of selfhood”
“The reality is this is just American Baptist theology secularized,” he concluded.

I’m not throwing shade at our Presbyterian brothers here, but it sure seems like they’re throwing shade at us.
