This story is developing, but right now, what we know is that the founding pastor of a Nashville area megachurch, which is also home to Tennessee governor, Bill Lee, is embroiled in a feud between the founding pastor, Steve Berger–who is leaving the church to start a ministry in the Washington D.C. area–and the new lead pastor, Rob Rogers.
News of a feud between the two had been making its way through the congregation over the last several weeks and the lead pastor, Rob Rogers, stood to apologize to the congregation this past Sunday where he was apparently repeatedly interrupted with boos. During this time, the live feed of the service was cut and an altercation took place.
During the altercation, the founding pastor’s wife, Sarah Berger, took the microphone to defend her husband. According to Mrs. Berger, Rogers–along with another pastor–had accused her husband of being a “Christian extremist.” A video clip of this scene can be viewed below:
While the details of this story are still developing, we wholeheartedly denounce the practice of women grabbing the microphone from the pastor during service for this, or any other reason.
