In a recent rant on his regular video podcast, Christian apologist AD Robles accuses Southern Baptist President JD Greear of trying to get people to sin. Referencing a recent article in the Biblical Recorder, Robles argues that JD Greear’s urging people to “empower ethnically diverse leadership” is comparable to the Corban law described in Mark 1:1-13.
Greear argued that failure to do so “reveals a tone-deaf attitude that causes grief to brothers and sisters of color.”
“The same authority is handed down to us from God,” Robles objects, “as it is to you!”
“I have the same authority in my family that you have in your family. When I was a pastor I had the same authority granted from God that you have in your megachurch,” he says pointedly to Greear, who is white. “We don’t need you to empower us.”

“When you start to talk like this, it sounds good in a sound byte … but when you get down to the actual application of it, it pisses people off. And rightfully so because it is sinful.”
