UNC Charlotte is gearing up for its annual sex week where it will host drag queens and offer classes on caring for silicon sex toys in order to teach students about safe sex. According to the event’s website, students can also be tested for HIV and syphilis for free.
“Sex Week is bringing together organizations on and off-campus to create a unified educational experience that addresses topics of sex safety, sex positivity, sexuality and gender orientation, and much more,” the website’s About page states. “We want to encourage an environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions and talking about sex.”
Of course, by “free,” they mean funded by SGA grants (according to the event’s FAQ) — which means, parents are paying for this. SGA grants are paid into by student fees and, by requirement, any event that receives SGA grants must be open to all enrolled students.
So, hey, parents, since you’ve paid for it already, why not send your kids to “Learn about the design, development, and care of silicone sex toys. Join Sex Week to learn how 3D printing and silicone molding can be used to produce custom toys, and make your own body-safe toy”?
