I can emphatically say that as a person who has spent several years outside of an abortion clinic preaching the gospel and pleading with abortive mothers to repent and turn away from the evil they are about to commit, rarely have I ever seen a mother walk in against her will. With the exception of a few rare instances where I’ve seen parents parade their underage pregnant daughter in for an abortion, there is absolutely no reason to suggest that mothers who have abortions shouldn’t be held accountable for their crimes.

As stated, there may be an extremely small number of cases, taken on a case-by-case basis, where a mother is forced against her will into having an abortion—and by “forced,” I mean met with irresistible force. The typical mother having an abortion drives up to the clinic and, if with someone else at all, usually another female friend. Sometimes the father will be there, sometimes brothers or sisters will be with them. Heck, I’ve even seen pastors drive women to the abortion clinic to have their children murdered.

Yet, there is a growing consensus in Evangelicalism that in order to be pro-life, one must believe that mothers are victims of abortion rather than perpetrators. This is absolutely insane, yet, it is becoming a popularized opinion and widespread—even in the Southern Baptist Convention. Earlier today, I reported that Southern Baptist Convention Ethics and Religious Liberty (ERLC) president, Brent Leatherwood, signed an open letter to state lawmakers calling on them not to criminalize abortion for the mother.

Today, Southern Baptist Convention presidential candidate, Bart Barber is making the same argument, that mothers are not responsible for the murder taking place at an abortion clinic.

This is absolutely insane and I never thought I’d see the day when Southern Baptists openly argued on such a wide scale that abortion is an act of murder, but that the only person who has veto power over the murderous act is not responsible for it.

Foolish men speaking on behalf of the Church is why God’s judgment and wrath are being poured out among those who profess His holy name in one breath while profaning it in the next. I can unequivocally say that anyone who would cast a vote for this man at the annual meeting next month is partaking in the foolishness on display in this tweet.
