A self-proclaimed registered nurse in Naples, FL has threatened to withhold treatment from people who hold differing political views than she does.

Erika Waters, who claims to be a registered nurse in or around the Naples, FL on her Twitter profile, responded to a man on Twitter who was showing off a face mask that his wife made for him that displayed the words “Trump 2020.”

Waters also describes herself as “ex-GOP,” a “fact checker,” and a “Q blocker,” referencing those who hold to a far-right conspiracy theory around Donald Trump’s presidency.

If, in fact, Waters holds a nursing license in the state of Florida, it should be revoked immediately. Not only are making such threats unethical for any medical practitioner, but it is also illegal. Further, to make such threats public only serves to expose Waters’ overarching agenda which is to place her own personal politics over the lives of other people.

Young evangelicals seem to view the practice of challenging orthodoxy through the lens of updating an outdated policy manual at work. The casual approach to such things is telling and reveals a very disturbing trend in many, if not most, evangelical churches. I believe this trend can be traced to the refusal of the Church to test those who claim to be believers and teachers and leaders who are not.
